Cleveland Rocks! So it seems like a perfect location to gather a group of OTR Rockstars! And hey, that’s you! Cleveland is a land of INNOVATION, ENGAGEMENT and INSPIRATION!) and so we are bringing OTR professionals, graduate students, and undergraduate students from all over Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Ontario with opportunities for everyone to take part in keynotes, workshops, educational sessions, and networking. With so many learning opportunities, you'll go home ready to innovate, engage, and inspire on your campus like a rockstar!

Travel
Parking at the Hotel: $18.

Cleveland has great public transit. From the hotel to campus is just a few minutes on the HealthLine bus. People are purchase a daily pass for $5.50 which can allow them to travel even all the way to Downtown Cleveland if they wanted to site see. But that's per person. Not sure if that should be included.


Educational Session Proposals & Peer Reviewers
Interested in sharing your knowledge about OTR at this year’s Regional Conference? Educational Session Proposals will be open for submissions will open on December 15, 2016. All session proposals must be submitted by February 2, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST. Forms will be time-stamped upon submission. 

We are also looking for professionals and graduate students from Region VII to help with reviewing Educational Session Proposals. If you are having technical difficulties with the educational session submission form, please contact the NODA Association Office first at noda@umn.edu or 612/301-NODA (6632).


Highlight Session Proposals for Associate Members
Associate Members have the opportunity to submit a proposal to present a Highlight Session at Regional Conferences. Highlight Sessions are time slots dedicated to Associate Members who are interested in showcasing their products or services at regional conferences to NODA members through a conference program session. If selected for a Highlight Session time slot, an Associate Member who is selected to present a Highlight Session will pay the Highlight Session Fee of $100 (in addition to their registration fee).


Regional Awards

Nominate your students and colleagues for Regional Awards. Available Regional Awards include: Outstanding Undergraduate Student Leader Award (Two and Four Year), Outstanding Graduate Student, Outstanding Orientation Professional, Regional Innovative Program, Regional Outstanding New Orientation Professional, and Regional Showcase Award. All nominations are due by February 3, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST. All forms will be time-stamped upon submission. ROLI - Regional Orientation Leader Institute
The Regional Orientation Leader Institute is a small group experience for returning Orientation Leaders who are in their second+ year of working with their orientation programs and/or hold supervision responsibilities. ROLI is led by professional staff mentors who will mentor a small group of ROLI participants, and there are also large group discussions and activities. Only 2 students per institution may register. The ROLI registration deadline is March 1, 2017.


Undergraduate Case Study Competition
The Undergraduate Case Study Competition provides students with the opportunity to work with undergraduate students from other institutions to brainstorm solutions to a challenging orientation scenario. During your team’s assigned time block, you will spend approximately 30 minutes with your team preparing and presenting the case study. Winners for “Best Problem Solving”, “Best Communication”, and “Best Overall Presentation” will be announced at the conference Closing Brunch. If you are interested in competing, you must attend the required participant meeting on Friday evening where we will discuss the competition format, assign students to groups, and answer any questions.

 

Graduate Symposium
The Graduate Student Symposium is a small group experience designed for first and second year Master’s Level graduate students led by experienced Orientation, Transition and Retention professional staff mentors. Graduate Students will have the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions and exercises pertaining to a variety of topics that are essential for graduate students to explore during their time as a graduate student to lay the groundwork for supporting the remainder of the graduate assistant experience. Topics can vary each year and may include higher education/student affairs competencies, networking, the job search process, and navigating workplace politics. Publications & Media Showcase
The publications showcase will take part throughout the conference weekend. Bring your schedules, marketing materials, handbooks, and publications with you to check-in to enter them into the showcase.

Registration
While registering for the conference online, you can either pay with a credit card immediately or create an invoice to pay with a check. If you choose to pay with a check please send it to the NODA Association Office at: 2829 University Ave SE, Suite 415, Minneapolis, MN 55414. We highly recommend paying for your registration fee before arriving on-site for the event, this way your ability to attend will not be hindered. NODA does not accept checks on-site, only credit cards if necessary.

*Graduate students must be NODA members to attend the conference and receive the conference student rate.
**If you are an undergraduate student, you must be registered by a Graduate, Professional, or Professional Nonmember. Graduates and Undergraduates are both charged the student rate.

Regional Conference Refunds/Cancellation Policy

Please note that all NODA membership fees are nonrefundable once payment has been processed; however, you may request a refund for the conference registration fees based on the following refund timeline. Conference registrants requesting a cancellation that is received in writing to the NODA Home Office on or before 5 p.m., 2 full weeks before the conference, will receive a full refund. Registrants requesting a cancellation in writing on or before 5 p.m, with less than 2 weeks until the conference start date will receive a refund minus $100 late cancellation fee. Absolutely no refunds will be made to individuals canceling within 24 hours of the conference start date. Conference organizers cannot accept refund requests that result from canceled flights and/or natural disasters.
