Conference Features

ROLI
2018 marks the 15th anniversary of the Regional Orientation Leaders Institute (ROLI), a program with a long tradition of taking experienced student leaders - often as they begin supervisory or advanced leadership roles - and challenging them to challenge themselves. ROLI is structured as an interactive experience that scaffolds participants’ learning, and provides opportunities to explore themselves as individual leaders, leaders of a team, and as leaders of an orientation program.

This day and a half program is comprised of educational sessions based on several competency areas, followed by small group discussions led by professional staff mentors from within NODA Region IX. Each session is designed to be interactive, thought-provoking, and focused on pushing participants to think differently about their role as a leader among leaders. Students are asked to come to ROLI with an open mind, a generous supply of energy, and willingness to challenge themselves!

Two students per institution may participate in the ROLI program. If there are additional students from your institution who would like to participate, please contact Andy Donahue and Chrissy Daniel to join our waitlist.

Case Study
Once again, Region IX will be hosting undergraduate and graduate Case Study Competitions during this year’s conference! Are you great at problem solving on your feet? Do you like working within a team? Participate in this unique opportunity to work with peers from other institutions and brainstorm a solution to a challenging orientation scenario. Awards for the best solutions will be announced at the Closing Brunch. Contact Erin Twomey or George Theotokatos with any questions.

Mentor/Mentee Program
Professional staff and graduate students from Region IX are encouraged to register for the 2018 Mentor/Mentee Program. During the conference, professionals serving as mentors will have an opportunity to connect with graduate mentees regarding professional experiences, insights into the field of OTR, and resume reviews. The Mentor/Mentee Program is a great opportunity to build connections for continued personal and professional development!

Resume Review
Attention graduate students! Don’t forget to register for our annual Resume Review event, through which you will receive valuable feedback from Region IX professionals on your growing resume. Please note that those graduate students participating in the Mentor/Mentee Program will automatically take part in the Resume Review.

NODA's Got Talent
What’s your talent? Share it with the rest of Region IX! Whether on your own or with a group, we want to see what you’ve got! What better way to bond with your team and get to know other undergraduates in Region IX, than to compete in NODA’s Got Talent?! We will have four categories for you to choose from: comedy, music, dance, or variety. Microphones and sound will be available for contestants to use. One winner will be selected from each category. Students: we can’t wait to see what you bring!

Swag Swap
Join in on the annual Swag Swap! Bring swag from your school/program to exchange with other students during the conference. Ideas include t-shirts, sunglasses, hoodies, hats, summer reading books, flags, lanyards, and more!
